In “Episode 4: James Connor” Mike discusses with James the power of the mind when you look inward to help solve your problems. Mike elaborates on this concept at 28:40, when he asks James if he has ever heard of the famous self-help author Wayne Dyer.
Dyer, who unfortunately passed away in 2015, held a doctorate in counseling psychology and was known as “The Father of Motivation” in the 1980’s and 1990’s because of his successful, deep thinking self-help books.

His first breakout bestseller, Your Erroneous Zones, argues that we, as humans, have internal restrictions that keep ourselves from achieving the full and happy lives we all desire. Dyer calls these restrictions our “erroneous zones.” The biggest takeaway from this book is that the one fully controllable constant in our existence is how we decide to look at and react to situations life throw’s at us. With this mindset, Dyer offers a full blueprint on how to take control of our feelings to succeed in controlling our destiny.
The second book of Dyer’s that follows along with what Mike is talking to James about is The Power of Intention. In here, Dyer focusses on the energy we can create that will help one step beyond their mind and their ego. He uses the term “Connector” as someone who can employ the type of mindset to make ourselves available to success.
“Connectors are the people whom everyone sees as lucky, those for whom success seems effortless. They trust an invisible force that will be all-providing and they just don’t attract negativity to themselves.”
So, here is Mike’s first homework assignment for you Steves. Dyer has many books, all with valuable information to takeaway. Give one a try and see if you notice a difference.
